Fozzy: Glasgow, Cathouse 08.11.11
OK so I admit I got to this gig a little later than expected so I didn't catch the first two bands on the bill, with that being said I did get there in time to catch Jettblack.
Jettblack are a four piece from High Wycombe, England. They released an album named "Get your hands dirty" in June 2010 and I must admit these guys did not fail to impress.
Opening with the first track on the album "Slip it on" the crowd instantly seemed to go wild. As the show went on the crowed seemed to get more and more into it as the boys belted out such hits as "Two Hot Girls" and "Fooled by a Rose" and not to forgetting a guitar solo battle between Will and Jon before finishing on there first single "Get your hands Dirty".
All in all I believe Jettblack were the best sounding band of the night and I highly recommend them to any fans of good old Classic "Sunset Strip" hard rock.
Next up were the headliners Fozzy, Fronted by WWE's own Chris Jericho.
Not knowing what to expect from Fozzy I found myself thinking that everyone was here to see the WWE superstar and not the band...I was wrong.
Fozzy took to the stage with a deafening Fozzy chant coming from the crowd...Seems like Fozzy are alot more known than I expected.
Opening with a track called "Paraskavedekatriaphobia (Friday the 13th)" from there newest album "Chasing the Grail" The crowd got crazy instantly, with fans taking every opportunity to get a picture of front man Chris Jericho.
The next song in the set took me by surprise as I found my self nodding along with a familier riff, it turned out to be a cover of "Eat the Rich" by Krokus, which I found the rest of the audience was enjoying as much as I was, especially during an awesome solo by Rich "the duke" Ward.
As the set went on it seemed like after every song the "Fozzy" chants got louder and louder, Even the band seemed delighted with the response they were getting from the Glasgow crowd and took a minute or two break to lap up the praise there fans were giving them.
We are now getting to the end of the set and the fans are keeping up the electric atmosphere as the guys belt out a few more hits such as "With The Fire", "To Kill A Stranger" and "Martyr No More".
The Band go off stage briefly before taking the stage one last time as Chris Jericho asks the fans if they would like to hear one more song, of course the Glasgow crowd let him know they were not going anywhere until they heard the fan favourite "Enemy".
With a loud "Enemy" chant from part of the crowd and a faint "Y2J" chant heard from the wrestling fans in the audience, the band blasted out there encore and ended thier set with passion to the fans delight.
After a photo with the Glasgow crowd Fozzy left the stage with smiles on there faces, a smile which was shared as by most of the fans in the venue.
There was only one fault I had with the Fozzy set and it was that Chris Jericho's mic wasn't loud enough, Otherwise it was a great gig.
